Gut, written by Frances Poet, makes its U.S. premiere as a gripping psychological drama set in pre‑pandemic Scotland, pulling you into the fragile world of trust and paranoia. When a couple, Maddy and Rory, leave their child in the care of a family member, a seemingly innocent encounter with a stranger sparks a spiral of doubt. As Maddy’s thoughts twist into dark “what ifs,” the line between reality and fear begins to blur.
Raw, tense, and unforgettable – Gut explores the depths of parental instinct and the haunting power of imagination.
Gut was first commissioned by the National Theatre of Scotland. Produced by the Traverse Theatre in association with the National Theatre of Scotland and first performed on 24 April 2018.
