Twin Cities actors and singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalists Isabella Dawis & Kata Fried invite you to SIRENS & THE MUSE -- a duo concert of original songs and covers on the themes of creativity, healing, and music as a response to life. Come for an evening of vocals, piano, bass, live-looping, and surprises galore! With special guests Dan Carpel (bass) and TBD.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Isabella Dawis is a Filipina-American singer, keyboardist, live looping musician, and theatermaker from Minneapolis. A Coalition of Asian American Leaders Ignite Fund Grantee, she currently holds a Jerome Hill Artist Fellowship and an Asian Economic Development Association YOBIZMO Fellowship. Awards include the Kleban Prize in Musical Theatre, the Fred Ebb Award for musical theater songwriting, and the Weston-Ghostlight New Musical Award. Locally, her playwriting and songwriting has been presented and supported by Ten Thousand Things, Open Eye Theatre, the Center for Performing Arts, Theater Mu, Tofte Lake Center, Theater Latte Da, the Minnesota State Arts Board, and more. Kata Fried is a theatre artist and musician from Minneapolis, MN. She attended the University of Minnesota / Guthrie Theater B.F.A. Actor Training Program and performs regionally as an actor and musician with an intense focus in new work. She creates written, musical, and visual pieces that center on mental health education and explorations of the female experience. Kata has worked with the Guthrie Theater, Ten Thousand Things Theater, Theater Latté Da, Theatre L'Homme Dieu, Jungle Theater, Mixed Blood Theatre, Fulton Opera, and Illinois Shakespeare Festival among others. Recently, Kata composed music for Ten Thousand Things' The Hatmaker's Wife. She is currently working on a site-specific musical performance piece about fear, the nighttime, and somatic healing.
