WINTERREISE: A Winter's Journey

Continuing with our Conceptual Beginnings series, we retreat back to one of the original inspirations for contemporary concept albums, the classical song cycle.  Franz Schubert's WINTERREISE is a setting of 24 poems by German poet Wilhelm Muller.  The piece uses the everlasting story of lost love to explore the human need for connection and acceptance.

Baritone Justin Spenner and pianist Carson Rose Schneider approach this immersive piece by asking, "What convinces a person that they are unworthy of love?" They will explore this question by turning The Hive into a gallery space, inviting the audience to engage with their eyes, ears, and physical wanderings. Expect video, found sound, and interactive elements.
